Woman accidentally shot while being attacked by dog

KENOSHA, Wis. -- A woman is recovering from a gunshot wound after police accidentally shot her in the foot while trying to stop a dog from attacking her.

WITI reports an English Bulldog was loose and attacking people yesterday in Kenosha. The owner says his bulldog and chihuahua got loose after landscapers left their gate open.

The bulldog began attacking people and wouldn't let go of a neighbor's thigh. Officers' accidentally both tased and shot the woman while attempting to hit the dog.

In total, three people were bitten by the dog. The woman who was shot is in the hospital.

Since police fired their weapons, the sheriff's office is investigating. The dog was ultimately shot and killed.
