Another round of hot and humid weather on Tuesday

Tuesday, May 25, 2020 4:00 a.m. The NBC15 First Alert Weather Forecast from Meteorologist James Parish: Good Tuesday morning! There is going to be some summer-like sizzle outside this afternoon. Today will likely be the warmest day so far this year. With all the heat and humidity around, scattered showers and storms will be possible this afternoon. Expect this stretch of very warm, if not hot, and humid weather with off and rain and storms chances to continue through Thursday. Rain chances will continue to increase through Thursday as a cold front approaches. The end of the week looks slightly cooler, less humid and dry. This morning is mild and muggy. Most places are waking up to temperatures in the 60s. Keep in mind, the average low for today is near 50 degrees, so it's a warm start to our day, especially for the end of May. Most of the area will stay dry this morning. Today will likely be the hottest day of the year so far. Today's forecast high in Madison is 85 degrees. The average high for today is 72 degrees. With the high humidity levels, feels like temperatures will be a few degrees above the actual air temperature. Scattered showers and storms will start to develop this afternoon and continue through the early evening hours. With all the heat and humidity around, a stronger storm capable of strong wind gusts or hail can't be ruled, mainly west of Madison. The overnight will be mild and muggy again. Overnight lows will be in the 60s. There will be a slight chance of showers and storms before midnight. Most of the area will stay dry. The very warm and humid conditions will continue through Wednesday. Highs on Wednesday will be in the low to mid 80s. The best timing of the scattered showers and storms on Wednesday will be in the afternoon and early evening. A slow-moving cold front will move through the area on Thursday. This front will increase our rain chances on Thursday. There will be plenty of moisture with this front to work with so there will be the potential for heavy rain. Highs on Thursday will be in the mid to upper 70s. This stretch of active weather will finally come to an end towards the end of the week. Rainfall totals through Friday afternoon will likely range from 0.5-1.5". Locally higher amounts will be possible where the thunderstorms develop. Friday will be the pick day of the workweek. It's going to be sunny and cooler. The best part about Friday will be the lower humidity levels. Highs on Friday will be near 70 degrees. The quiet weather looks like it will stick around for the week. Highs on Saturday and Sunday will be near 70 degrees.
